Team Rappaport is back from Sin City after a four-day International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) RECon conference held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.  The big news in our corner came on the eve of the show with the revelation that German supermarket chain, Lidl, will be the 30,000-square-foot grocery anchor at Skyland Town Center in Washington, DC.  This announcement made alongside WC Smith, Lidl, and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser highlights this will be the first major grocer to enter Southeast in over a decade and Lidl’s first store in the District.

The May 19-22 convention hosted dozens of presentations such as “Nine Creative Ways to Lease Your Vacancies Faster” and “The PropTech Evolution”.  Chief Executive Officer of Rappaport and past ICSC chairman, Gary D. Rappaport, hosted his own expert presentation discussing “Investing in Retail Properties and Structuring Partnerships”, a familiar topic for the retail real estate expert who authored a book of the same title.

Rappaport’s trusted retail advisors and Executive team experienced an eventful conference, meeting with multiple current and prospective clients to cultivate some new partnerships and execute deals.
