On Thursday, June 1st, Rappaport will be taking part in the Greater Washington Real Estate Games at American University. The Real Estate Games, hosted by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), bring together thousands of employees from over 130 real estate brokerage and development firms throughout Maryland, D.C. and Virginia to raise money for JDRF. The JDRF Real Estate Games were founded in 1989.

Since then, the JDRF Real Estate Games has raised over $6 million for type 1 diabetes (T1D) Research. Last year alone the games raised over $520,000.
Members of Rappaport are involved in a variety of events including basketball, tennis, track and field, and, the crowd favorite, tug-of-war. Last year the Rappaport team came in second place in tug-of-war. Everyone is excited to finish with a first-place trophy this year. CPA, Controller and Star Tug-of-War athlete Joe Stout enjoys representing Rappaport at the Real Estate Games. “It brings the industry together for a great cause” said Joe as he looked over the impressive Tug-of-War trophy in his office.
This year Rappaport’s team shirts, designed by Trevor Ferkler, Senior Creative Designer, strayed away from our traditional logo and branding for a retro theme. Our theme this year pays homage to the decade both the games and Rappaport were founded. Rappaport was founded in 1984 making this Rappaport’s 33rd year. In another 33 years, by 2050, it is expected that 5 million people in the US will have T1D, 600,000 of them being children under the age of 20. As a company, we are excited to get to continue to be a part of such a great event that will help discover new treatments and eventually a cure.
